Hunger

Hunger

Yasemin felt a sudden pain when a toy stabbed into her foot. Colorful toys, big and small, were scattered all over the house. No one had played with them for hours.

Her little daughter, Elif, would empty her toys from her closet as soon as she woke up in the morning and leave them there without playing with them. When Yasemin was a child, these toys were more than enough for all the children in the neighborhood. She thought about only one of them, going back to her childhood. "I probably would have played with that toy for hours," she thought to herself.

Because there weren't any then. Now there are many. Children were full of toys. But with all these resources, they were never satisfied.
You can't be satisfied with the existence of something you've never experienced the absence of.
It's like this for every resource, he thought. Toys, food, clothes, time... People were always trying to increase their resources. They thought they would be satisfied by eating more, sleeping more, buying more toys, buying more clothes, having more fun.

For example, she would make crepes, toast, cheese omelets, and olive pizzas for Elif to eat at breakfast. Elif, on the other hand, had no interest in all the food on the table. She would complain and leave the kitchen. However, if Yasemin had seen such a table as a child, her eyes would sparkle and she would be unable to sit still.
Just like a lion's eyes shining when it meets its prey. But on the other hand, there are lions born and raised in zoos. Meal times are set, there is no risk of going hungry, they are very full in every way, but their eyes do not shine.

Just like a hungry cat on the street is more lively, more active, and more skillful than a cat born and raised at home. Just like a cat at home is fuller, more lethargic, and less willing to eat. Similarly, as people increase their material resources to the fullest, their liveliness and vitality disappear.

Actually, aren't children like this today?

Hunger, which is good for a lion or a child, is also good for our body's immunity when it is for certain periods.

However, a person never wants to be hungry. While eating gives a person energy, a person who eats until he is full cannot get up from where he is sitting. However, when we leave some space in our stomachs, we start to be more lively and alive.

This is valid for every area where we reach satiety. Every creature that is over-full has less mobility.

  • Like a child who has too many toys and is too lazy to clean up his room...
  • Like a spouse who is saturated with attention and doesn't bother to get attention...
  • Like someone whose every financial need is met and doesn't bother to earn money...
Therefore, hunger is not something that needs to be eliminated;
Hunger is something that makes a person alive and is good for a person. Therefore, by starving themselves at certain times for 1 month of the year, people not only start to improve their immunity but also their behavior. In other words, not only do their stem cells become active, but their desire to consume also begins to become passive. Or, they not only start to burn fat by secreting the leptin hormone, but also their emotional endurance increases… hunger, which has endless benefits like this, is a great treat for a person for 1 month of the year.
Hoping to be able to appreciate the treat…
